'The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things' - Will it be perfect romcom?

We’ve all seen the time loop movies play out the same every time.

From the Legendary ‘Groundhog day’, ‘Happy Death Day’ and even the Tom Cruise starrer action epic ‘Edge of Tomorrow’. All of these are prominent classics of our time, but it is the first time that the time loop concept is being introduced to the rom-com genre.

Amazon Prime Video brings us their original ‘The Map of Tiny Perfect Things’ directed by Ian Samuels starring Catherine Newton as Margaret and Kyle Allen as Mark.

The movie starts with our protagonist Mark who is stuck in a time loop living the same day repeatedly until he meets Margaret who is in the same predicament as him and they decide to work together to figure out how to get out of their situation. And along the way, they fall in love, which complicates things to a certain degree.

The cinematography of the movie by Andrew Wehde is one of my favorite things about this movie, the production design and the direction comes to a close second.

The movie suffers from a severe case of the second-half syndrome, where the plot suddenly slows down and the mysteries are stretched out for so long that the viewer solves them themselves. The movie includes a fine twist nearing the end, but the viewer might already have predicted it. ‘

The Map of Tiny Perfect Things’ seems to resemble are all on life during the quarantine, and you can surely draw some parallels to it. Let us know how you found the movie!
