Recommendation: Netflix's 'The Trial Of Chicago 7' Is Worth Watching!

The movie focuses on the 1969 trial of seven defendants who are charged for conspiracy and inciting the anti-war protests in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention by the federal government. The result of the trials may not be fair but it definitely led to more conversations about racism and protests. With an amazing multi-starrer cast like Tom Hayden playing Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen playing the humorous Abbie Hoffman who is my personal favourite and many others, this movie is a delight to watch. 50 years since the anti-war protests in Chicago and it seems like nothing much has changed in the United States. Chants like “The whole world is watching” in the movie reminded be of the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020. The movie might not be able to exactly mirror what happened during the trial but I think it gives a pretty good idea. I also believe that the reason this movie impressed me so much is because of the similarities I saw in the reel and real life.
