Should casting directors be allowed to cast themselves in a role?

Everyone knows the struggle to become an actor if you have no connections in the industry. You are offered no to minimum chances and your major hope lies upon the casting directors. It is often noticed that the CDs have casted themselves in a particular role, which some other actor might have deserved. Here are some examples:

1) Bhumi Pednekar: Before debuting in Dum Lagake Haisa, Bhumi worked as an assistant to Shanoo Sharma, Yash Raj Films’ casting director. Reportedly, Shanoo Sharma had suggested her to act, as she seemed to be the perfect fit for the role.

2) Jogi Malang: He owns a casting agency to his name and has acted in various films and shows like Gulabo Sitabo, Paatal Lok, Pink, Raazi etc. Though he is an amazing actor, there might be other actors waiting for their big break.

3) Abhishek Banerjee: He is well-known for his roles as Hathoda Tyagi in Paatal Lok and as Jaana in Stree. With his popularity, it is sure that he is an extra-ordinary actor but being a co-founder of the casting agency- Casting Bay, he might have huge storage of other talented actors.

4) Mukesh Chhabra: He owns one of the top casting companies in India. He has given various gems to Bollywood and that’s why outsiders have faith in him. However, that faith is sometimes shaken when he is seen in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Chillar Party etc.

Casting directors are believed to be genuine sources that provide talented actors for any film, series, or show. They need to possess skills like direction, writing, and acting. These skills are needed to find perfect actors for their clients and not to cast themselves in some role.
