Telugu Industry’s big families - #2

Only recently, we told you about the Konidelas and the Allus. There are two other predominant families in the Telugu film industry. They are the Akkinenis and the Daggubatis.

The Akkineni Family

Akkineni Nageswara Rao was a renowned and extremely successful actor in the Telugu Film Industry. He, with his wife, had 5 children (2 boys, 3 girls). Their girls are Akkineni Sathyavathi (whose son is actor Sumanth), Akkineni Saroja and Akkineni Naga Susheeila (whose son is actor Sushanth). Their sons are Akkineni Venkat and Akkineni Nagarjuna. Akkineni Nagarjuna married Lakshmi Daggubati in 1984, with whom he had his first son Akkineni Naga Chaitanya (M. Samantha Akkineni). However, the couple got divorced in 1990. Nagarjuna later went on to marry Amala Akkineni in 1992, with whom he had his second son Akhil Akkineni.

They are the owners of the renowned Annapurna Studios which is names after Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s wife.

The Daggubati Family

Nagarjuna’s first wife Lakshmi Daggubati is a member of the Daggubati family. She is the daughter of D. Ramanaidu who forms the head of the Daggubati family. He has three children with his wife, and Lakshmi is one of them. The other two children are boys - D. Suresh Babu (M. Lakshmi) and actor Venkatesh (M. Neeraja Reddy). Suresh Babu has two children - actor Rana Daggubati (M. Miheeka Bajaj) and Malavika Daggubati.
