These Actors Went To Extreme Lengths For Their Roles

Different character played by these actors in movies shows how versatile they can be, from experimenting their looks to going to extreme lengths to portray their character and make it look realistic on screen they have sure proved their dedication and love for their art. Be it wearing heavy costume, gaining or losing weight for a film or applying prosthetics or even isolating themselves to get in the character these actors have done it all.

1) Deepika Padukone :- In her recent movie 'Chhapaak' where she plays an acid attack survivor the actor had to be in prosthetics makeup all the time while shooting for the film. Her face was wrapped in plaster and at one point, neither her nose, nor her mouth were left open. On the other hand we have seen Deepika in movies like Padmaavat, Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani where she is wearing heavy lehengas and jewellery. It was reported that the lehengas that she wore in her movies almost weighed 30kgs.

2) Amitabh Bachchan :- Amitabh Bachchan’s character in ‘Paa' and then completely opposite to this, his role in his recent movie Gulabo Sitabo. AB had to wear over eight pieces of specially crafted clay pieces designed by international make-up artist for his role in movie Paa. There is no second thought of how well he played the character of Auro. Just like Paa, he had to put prosthetics makeup for Gulabo Sitabo to get into the character of a grumpy old man. At this age Amitabh Bachchan managing to play such characters is surely commendable

3) Rajkumar Rao :- He is not one who takes things lightly when he prepares for his roles and can hands down win an award just for his dedication. Though he may have got mixed reviews for his accent in his newly released movie ‘The White Tiger’ but you cannot deny the fact that Rajkumar Rao takes his character very seriously. He locked himself up in a room while preparing for his role in ‘Shaurya' and survived on a diet of coffee and carrots only. He has gone half bald, and gained almost 11kg to prepare for his role in his upcoming movie Bose.

4) Ranveer Singh :- If wife Deepika is in the list how can we leave husband Ranveer Singh behind. Both husband and wife are truly dedicated artists. Ranveer Singh locked himself up in a Juhu hotel during the filming of Bajirao Mastani. He isolated himself for a week and would only communicate with everyone through little notes. Whereas for his role as Khilji in Padmaavat the actor revealed how emotionally, physically and mentally challenging it was for me.

5) Vidya Balan :- Vidya Balan has established a formidable career in Bollywood, defying stereotypes of several kinds in her way. She was often criticised for her weight and fashion sense in the beginning of her Bollywood career and ironically enough, she had to gain weight to portray the role of Silk Smitha in Dirty Picture; a role that earned her a National Award. She didn't wash her hair for a week for a particular scene in Bobby Jasoos, to make sure it looked authentic.
