Unpopular Opinion: Alia Bhatt is not the 'greatest actress' of this generation

While looking at Alia Bhatt’s filmography, I realized that half of her films are produced by Karan Johar. Well, that does not come as a surprise because Karan Johar has literally launched her into the Bollywood industry with Student Of The Year. Bhatt did not fare well in her debut film but, she decided to take an unconventional path by signing up Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’ as the second film of her career. In my opinion, she was better than her previous performance (SOTY) in Highway but it was Randeep Hooda who actually deserved all the praises and applause.

Coming to her contemporaries, Shraddha Kapoor tried to play it safe with all her performances. Talking about Parineeti Chopra, I would consider her as one of Alia’s tough competitors. But, she decided to take a break from films when her career was picking up, which was disappointing to be honest. It is believed that Karan Johar suggested Parineeti to take a break from the films; does that look like a coincidence? I’ll leave it to you.

Alia always had Karan Johar’s back and Karan Johar is one of the biggest names in Bollywood. I accept that she is not unbearable. In fact, I liked her performance in films like 2 States and Raazi but calling her the ‘most talented’ actress of this generation is a bit too much I feel. We have so many actresses like Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, or even Parineeti Chopra for that matter who, I feel, are better than her. I don't understand the hype created around Alia.

Comment down your thoughts.
