Was Imtiaz Ali skeptical about casting Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar as he had written the script keeping Hrithik in mind?

Imtiaz Ali's 2011 masterpiece Rockstar received praises and awards, and is also considered to be Ranbir Kapoor's breakthrough performance. Not many know that when Imtiaz had written the first draft of the film, he wrote the protagonist Jordan by keeping Hrithik Roshan in mind. Also, as he was impressed by Kareena Kapoor's performance in Jab We Met, he wanted to cast her alongside Roshan. However, Hrithik declined the offer as he didn't like certain parts of the script. So, Ali started working on Love Aaj Kal with Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. He had also offered Rockstar to Saif but the latter chose to go ahead with Love Aaj Kal instead. Simultaneously, Imtiaz also rewrote Rockstar and narrated it to Ranbir Kapoor but he didn't go ahead with making the film instantly. He had to drop Kareena as his choice for the female lead as we all know, RK and Bebo are cousins and their intimate scenes would have been uncomfortable and difficult to shoot. Finally, the film was announced and shot in 2010 with Ranbir and Nargis Fakhri. Imagine writing a character thinking about a specific actor and then having to rewrite the story and choose a completely different person for that role. That is a tough job sometimes when you have put so much effort into your work. Maybe that's why Imtiaz took his time, shot Love Aaj Kal and then continued with Rockstar. Personally, I would love to see Hrithik in a Rockstar character!
