When Hollywood was 'inspired' by Bollywood

Bollywood has been remaking and taking inspiration from Hollywood for a long time, but there are certain Bollywood films that were remade by foreigners. Shah Rukh Khan-Juhi Chawla starter 'Darr', which had a stammering SRK playing an obsessive lover, was remade in Hollywood as 'Fear'. Yes, they just translated the title also. The latter had Mark Wahlberg doing what SRK did and the film was a sleeper hit. The film that catapulted Ayushmann Khurrana in tinsel town, 'Vicky Donor', was remade as 'Delivery Man'. Both deal with infertility and sperm donation.

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor starter romantic comedy 'Jab We Met' turned out to be a major turning point for both the leads. Hollywood also took notice and made 'Leap Year' with Amy Adams, with a similar storyline. Neeraj Pandey's 'A Wednesday' was not only remade in Hollywood, but also in Sri Lanka. It's not that only recent films have been getting all the attention. Amol Palekar's 1976 film 'Choti Si Baat' is said to be the inspiration behind Will Smith-starrer comedy 'Hitch', which was later remade as 'Partner' with Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Govinda.
