Why do child actors end up going unnoticed and not make it big in Bollywood later?

Recently, there were a lot of reports on actors who played young versions of Kareena Kapoor in her older movies. One such news was that of Barkha Singh who played a young Bebo in Mujhse Dosti Karoge. She'd said that the audition for the role was very tough. Meanwhile, it makes you wonder about the countless other child actors in Bollywood who have gone unnoticed. These are either actors who played younger parts of celebs, played their children, or even those who carried films on their own.

And there's a pattern.

Not many of them make it big in the industry despite having shone on screen. This, of course, doesn't include those already from the industry who had appeared in movies at a young age like Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Darsheel Safary, for example, gave a stellar performance in Taare Zameen Par, but the rest of his filmography didn't work and he took a break. Sana Saeed, who played Anjali in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, did appear in Karan Johar's Student Of The Year but couldn't receive the same popularity as before. Even Kunal Kemmu is massively underrated. He played his part in Zakhm very well, and has been praised by critics multiple times but wasn't able to rake a lot of success in Bollywood. What went wrong?
