Why Rohit Shetty Postponed Sooryavanshi if Netflix holds OTT release rights?

Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi has been postponed again. It was scheduled to be released on 30th April 2021 in theatres. However, due to upsurge in COVID-19 cases in the country, director Rohit Shetty has announced about the film being postponed indefinitely. He had a discussion with Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray about the same before releasing the statement. Other reason for this can also be the hospitalization of film's lead, Akshay as he tested positive for novel coronavirus this week.

Netflix has already acquired the rights of Sooryavanshi for OTT release on its platform. It was waiting for the film's theatrical release so that it gets a green signal for digital release.

If Netflix has the rights, shouldn't the makers go ahead with the online release instead of postponing it? It has almost been a year since the film's initial release was announced. Do you think postponing the release is the right decision taken by the makers?
