A spectacular catch from Cameron Bancroft and game-changing spells from Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins helped Australia bowl out England for 258 run in the first innings of the second Test match of the Ashes series at Lord's.

Bancroft's resolute batting against debutant Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad, then, helped the Aussies walk away with the upper hand on Day 2 of the game after the first day was washed out due to rain.

The trio of Hazlewood, Cummins and Nathan Lyon had earlier snarled three wickets each at London to put the hosts under pressure, after the Australian team won the toss and opted to bowl first.

They now trail the English by 228 runs as they ended the day on 30 for 1, with Bancroft and Usman Khawaja at the crease. The former was on five and Khawaja on 11, respectively. David Warner was the lone Aussie wicket to fall thus far in the match.

Jonny Bairtsow was England's final wicket to fall as he scored 52, while Rory Birns top-scored with 53. Lyon got Ben Stokes LBW before he clean bowled Broad and then got Bairtsow caught in the deep as the English innings folded up. Bairstow's wicket was also Lyon's 355th Test scalp.
