Shubman Gill has been amassing runs at will for India A in the unofficial four-day Test series against West Indies A. Few days ago, he scripted a new record as he became the youngest Indian to score a first-class double century. Prior to the series, Shubman Gill felt that he was disappointed on not getting picked for the senior side in any of the formats. His performances have further reminded the selectors about his talent and ability.

While many cricketers have heaped praise on the 19 year old from Punjab, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg has asked the Indian selectors to consider Gill for the West Indies tour and accommodate him in the middle-order. His tweet read, "Shubman Gill, another double century to his name overnight. Has to be a late inclusion in the One Day squad with India looking to solidify their middle order. Get the junior in."

Brad Hogg also felt that Gill could be a possible option at number 4 considering the form that he has been and the way in which Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli have been going about their work at the top of the order. "Not many options up the top for him, I reckon he can handle number 4."

Expressing his disappointment at not being picked for the tour to West Indies, Gill said, "I was waiting for the Indian senior team to be announced on Sunday and I expected to be selected for at least one of the squads. It was disappointing not to get picked but I am not going to spend time thinking over it. I'll keep scoring runs and performing to the best of my ability to impress the selectors."
