West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell also called 'Dre Russ' suffered a brutal blow to his head when he was batting in a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) match Thursday. Russell playing for Jamaica Tallawahs received the bow in the first inning of the match at Sabina Park. He was immediately taken for a CT scan. 

According to reports in Espncricinfo The incident took place in the 14th over, after Russell, batting on zero, failed to connect with a pull. Zouks pacer Hardus Viljoen had bowled a short ball, and the ball struck Russell’s helmet near the right ear.

Russell dropped to the ground and the Zouks’ fielders helped remove his helmet. When the medical team rushed in to check on Russell, the batsman was able to stand up. The Windies all-rounder began to walk off the pitch before retiring hurt. He couldn’t make the long return to the pavilion on his feet and a stretcher was called in.

Jamaica Tallawahs managed to put 170 runs in their stipulated 20 overs which St Lucia Zouks chased down with 20 balls to spare.
