Team India received a major jolt on Tuesday when their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the Test series against South Africa due to a minor stress injury. On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket India said that Bumrah has sustained a minor stress fracture in his lower back and therefore has been ruled out of the home Test series against the Proteas beginning October 2 in Visakhapatnam.

Bumrah will undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. He has been replaced by Umesh Yadav in the 15-member squad. Inspite of injuries the pacer is looking positive and has vowed to come back stronger.

"Injuries are part and parcel of the sport. Thank you for all your recovery wishes. My head is held high and I am aiming for a comeback that's stronger than the setback," tweeted Bumrah.

The 25-year-old rise in Test cricket has been exceptional. Since making his Test debut in January 2018, he has established himself as one of the world cricket's leading fast bowlers, snapping up 62 wickets in 12 Tests at an average of 19.24. In the recent tour to West Indies, he took 13 wickets during the Test series including a hat-trick.

He is also the first Indian bowler to grab a five-for in each of the four countries he has toured - South Africa, England, Australia and the West Indies.
