England was always a venue that belonged to seam bowlers. The green pitches, overcast conditions, and huge boundaries often made life tough for batsmen at the crease. However, the scenario is making a shift as during recent times, it’s the bowlers who have been at the receiving end. The wickets there nowadays are much flatter and usually have nothing to offer for bowlers, which surely wasn’t the case earlier.

Pertinently, in a hot-game like India-Pakistan encounter, batsmen surely are going to make an impact in the expected flat deck. Both the teams have some very good batters in the squad, however, a few can turn the tables with their performances. In this piece, we look at the three batsmen who can make a mark in the match between India and Pakistan on June 16.

3. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has been one of the most successful batsmen for India in limited-overs cricket for a long time. The opener concluded 2018 as the second highest run-scorer in One-day internationals with 1,030 runs in 19 matches at an astonishing average of 73.57.

The Mumbaikar was the hero for India in the opening game of World Cup, scoring a gutsy 100 against South Africa. He played quite well in the last match as well. Rohit would now play a crucial role for Men in Blue when they take the field against arch-rivals Pakistan.

2. Babar Azam

Although Pakistan is a bowling heavyweight side, Babar is one of the top batting talents serving the world cricket presently. The right-handed batsman has been consistently among the runs in all the three formats. He not only owns the skill of clearing the fence but makes sure to take those ones and two's on a regular basis.

The Karachi-born scored a couple of spectacular knocks for Pakistan in the World Cup thus far. He is the backbone of their batting line-up and how he performs against India will doubtlessly affect the overall result of the match.

1. Virat Kohli

The batting epitome of the current era without any doubt stands at the top position whenever it comes to big matches. The Delhi-born has already pocketed some world records while he is expected to end up with even bigger numbers.

The right-handed batsman after falling early in the first match played a superb kncok of 82 runs against Australia, helping India run away with a comprehensive win. There is no denying that Virat will be the key for India against arch-rivals. He has previously also done quite well against Pakistan. Though how he tackles Mohammad Amir in the early overs will be interesting to watch.
