Virat Kohli's hundred and a good knock from Shreyas Iyer helped India score 279 for 7 in their 50 overs in the second ODI against West indies at Trinidad. After losing the plot and succumbing to 115 for 3, the Men in Blue put up a 125-run partnership, which helped them post a fighting total.

After India won the toss and batted first, Shikhar Dhawan was once again out early as Sheldon Cottrell got him LBW. It brought together Roit Sharma and Kohli, who scored 74 runs for the second wicket to give the team a foundation to build on.

Kohli raced away to a run-a-ball 38, while Rohit struggled for momentum. He eventually lost patience and was dismissed while going for a big hit off the bowling of Roston Chase. Rishabh Pant walked in, but India were left disappointed again as he scored only 20 runs. He faced ten dot balls at one stage and finally walked back to leave India at 101 for 3.

However, this allowed Kohli and Iyer to get together, and the duo helped India cross the 200-run mark. While Iyer started off briskly, Kohli got his ton off 112 balls, and raced away to 120 in no time before being dismissed.

A brief rain spell followed and India could only score 29 runs in the last five overs, but the middle order had done enough to give India a good total to defend.
