West Indian batsman Chris Gayle put up a blistering show in what is likely his last ODI for the national team. The 39-year old scored 72 in only 41 balls in the third and final ODI against India at Trinidad. Smashing eight fours and five sixes in his knock, Gayle spared no Indian seamer as he sent Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed to all parts of the park. He was aptly supported by Evin Lewis, who made 43 in 29, as the Windies openers added 115 runs in only 65 balls.

This was Gayle's 301st ODI, and he even sported a special jersey with the numbers 301 printed at the back.

After Gayle was dismissed, every Indian cricketer walked up to Gayle to shake hands with the Universal Boss. The big-hitter raised his bat and put his helmet atop his willow as he walked off the field with a big smile. Skipper Virat Kohli also managed to do a small jig with the superstar.

However, it should be remembered that there is no official word on his retirement, but the celebrations and the guard of honour given to Gayle makes it certain that this is his final ODI. Earlier, Gayle had stated that he would retire after the England series earlier this year, but extended his career till the World Cup. After the end of the edition, he was eager to play against India at home as well, and this time it really seems the end.

Fans could not control their emotions as they too bid the much-loved Gayle farewell.
