Aggressive left-hander Chris Gayle, who had stated that he would retire from cricket after the Test series against India later this month, has not been selected in the Windies squad for the two-match series that begins from August 22 at Antigua.

He had earlier stated that he would retire from the game after the World Cup 2019, but later backtracked and said that he would play the ODIs and Tests against India before calling it quits.

"It's still not the end. I still have a few games to go. May be another series to go, as well. Who knows, we will see what happens. My plans after World Cup? I may play a Test match against India and then I will definitely play the ODIs against India. I won't play the T20s. That's my plan after the World Cup," Gayle had said.

The player had a below-par World Cup this year, where he scored only 242 runs in eight innings at an average of just over 30. He failed to get going in the first ODI against India earlier this week as well, scoring four in only 31 balls.

West Indies' 13-member side for the Tests sees Rahkeem Cornwall earning his maiden call up to the Test team. He made his debut in 2014, and has taken 260 First-Class wickets so far.

Squad: Jason Holder (c), Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, John Campbell, Roston Chase, Rakheem Cornwall, Shane Dowrich, Shannon Gabriel, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Keemo Paul, Kemar Roach
