Team India begin their ICC World Test Championship journey with Virat Kohli leading the side against West Indies in the two-match Test series. The men in blue are so far uneaten on the tour and Kohli look to keep intact the unbeaten run on this tour. 

If India manages to whitewash Windies in the Test series, then he would become the first Indian captain to win two-Test series against the Caribbean nation. On the current tour, India swept the 3-match T20I series and won the 3-match ODI series 2-0. 

Talking about the longer format of the game India are yet to lose series against  West Indies since 2002. We look at the history between these two teams 

1) West Indies and India have faced each other in 23 Test series since 1948-49 with the Windies having the upper hand by winning 12 times while India tasting victory only 9 times.

2) India recorded their first Test series win in the West Indies back in  1971 under Ajit Wadekar's captaincy. They clinched the 5 matches Test series 1-0.  

3) The last two visit  West Indies in 2011 and 2016 and ended up winning on both the occasions. They won the series 1-0 under the leadership of MS Dhoni in 2011 and in 2016 Team India won the series 2-0 under Virat Kohli's captaincy.

4)Sunil Gavaskar has scored most runs between these two teams. In 27 Test against Windies, he has scored 2749 runs which include 13 centuries and 7 fifties.  Rahul Dravid is the second on the list with 1978 runs in 23 matches. He scored 5 centuries and 13 half-centuries. 

5)Legendary Clive Lloyd tops the batting charts having scored 2344 runs at an average of 58.60 in 28 Tests against India.  Shivnarine Chandrapaul is the second in the list with 2171 runs in 25 Tests.  

6) World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev tops the list with  89 wickets in 25 matches. Former India coach Anil Kumble is the second most successful bowler picking up 74 wickets in 17 Tests.

7) Malcolm Marshall has picked up most wickets for West Indies picking 76 wickets in 17 Tests.   Andy Roberts is the second most successful West Indies bowler against the Indians with 68 wickets in 14 Tests.
