Indian pacer Mohammad Shami got to an unfortunate record with the bat during the second Test against West Indies at Jamaica when he failed to score any runs in a Test innings for the sixth consecutive time in a match. He equaled B Chandrashekhar's record, who too had gone six Test innings without scoring a single run.

Shami's poor form with the bat started in the second Test match against Australia late last year at Perth. He has been unable to score a single run since then, getting out for a duck four times. He has been not out on 0 in two innings.

Shami surpassed former Indian Ajit Agarkar who had gone five innings without a run.

India, however, were not affected by the lack of runs from Shami, as they managed more than 400 in the first innings of the Test match. With the ball the Indians, lead by a hattrick from Jasprit Bumrah, dismissed the Windies for 117 to take a massive 299-run lead.
