England fast bowler James Anderson has been ruled out of the remaining two Ashes games after experiencing considerable pain in his calf during a practice match between Durham and Lancashire second XI.

Anderson, who had played the first Test against Australia earlier this month, had been able to bowl only 4 overs in that game, before being ruled out of the next two games with a calf injury that he suffered during a county game. However, it was hoped that he could make a comeback to the team for the fourth Test that begins from September 4 at Manchester.

However, he experienced pain during the four-day game again, and was eventually ruled out. Somerset's Craig Overton was added to the team for the fourth Test in his place.
