South African pacer Dale Steyn announced his retirement from Test cricket on Monday in order to concentrate more on the shorter versions of the game. The pacer picked up 439 wickets from 93 games at an average of 22.95 to end up as the leading wicket-taker for South Africa in Tests. Of late, injuries has cut short his career and has played very little matches for his side over the past couple of years.

Throughout his career, Steyn gave sleepless nights to the opposition batters. One player who was at the receiving end was Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson. Congratulating him on his glorious career, Williamson posted a picture of the cracked abdomen guard by Dale Steyn when they faced off against each other in 2013.

The caption read, "The box @dalesteyn cracked back in 2013 - OUCH! Kind of him to sign it after the match though. Congratulations on an incredible Test career mate.

Here is the post on Kane Williamson's official Instagram handle:

The 36 year-old pacer, made his Test debut against England at St. George's Park on 17th December 2004. Little did we know that he would climb up the ranks quickly and become one of the greatest fast bowlers of this generation.Though he did not have the greatest of starts to his career, as he picked up only 8 wickets in his first three tests, he gradually climbed up the ranks and went on to set high standards for him and for his country. He has heavily contributed towards South Africa's success across all three formats of the game. He picked up 26 five-wicket hauls and 5 ten-wicket match hauls. He formed a potent partnership with fellow pacers Vernon Philander and Kagiso Rabada and ran through several top quality sides in the Test arena. A firece competitor on the field, Dale Steyn will be really missed by Faf du Plessis and his men.
