Kapil Dev, the chief of BCCI appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) said that they must have a say while selecting the support staff of the Indian Cricket Team. Yesterday, the CAC comprising of Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy reappointed Ravi Shastri as the Head Coach of the team till 2021. The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) has asked the MSK Prasad led selection committee to pick the support staff.

Kapil Dev said, "Yes, our opinion should be there. If you ask me, we have sent a recommendation to the Board about the selection process of the support staff as well. It is not right, if we are not doing that job also. We told them that we would like to be part of the process that finalizes on the appointment. I think the Board will release that letter to you (media) also."

Earlier, the BCCI had given Ravi Shastri and the support staff comprising of Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun, R Sridhar and Sunil Subramaniam were given a 45 day extension till the end of the tour to West Indies. It is still not clear as to on what basis, the MSK Prasad led selection panel have been entrusted with the job of choosing Ravi Shastri's mates.

"There should not be a communication gap, their (selection committee) strength and our strength is the same for the team and we want to make sure that the team gets benefitted."

Vikram Rathour, Praveen Amre, Jonathan Trott and Mark Ramprakash have applied for the role of batting coach while fielding coach R Sridhar will face stiff competition for his position with Jonty Rhodes.

In the bowling department, Bharat Arun is most likely to be retained just like Ravi Shastri at the helm. Sunil Joshi, Venkatesh Prasad and Darren Gough have also applied for the post.
