Ahead of the first Test against West Indies, the team management will have several issues to address. One major concern would be the form of Ajinkya Rahane. Of late, he has not been able to convert his starts to big scores. With fellow Mumbaikar Rohit Sharma being in the form of his life, he might get Virat Kohli's backing in the upcoming Test series which will also kick start Team India's ICC World Test Championship campaign.

On the downside, Rohit Sharma has scored runs at will in the shorter versions of the game but has failed to replicate similar kind of performances in the longest format of the game. Though he has scored three double hundreds in ODIs, he has never really flourished as a Test batsmen in spite of getting lot of opportunities. With opener Prithvi Shaw serving a doing ban, it might be the right time for Ravi Shastri and co to try out Rohit Sharma at the top of the order in Test matches as well.

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly had a suggestion to sort out this concern as he wrote in a column for Times of India. "The major decision is whether they want to play Rohit or Rahane. Rohit was in blistering form in the World Cup, but in Tests in South Africa and Australia, he was one and off. Rahane was not his usual self in Australia. My suggestion would be to let Rohit carry on his good form from the World Cup and settle in the opener's slot while Rahane continues his good work of lending stability to the middle order."

Ganguly also wanted the team management to give Rishabh Pant the nod ahead of experienced Wriddhiman Saha. "After his impressive showing in Test cricket in Australia and England, Rishabh Pant should be starting ahead of Wriddhiman."
