Indian left-handed batsman Suresh Raina will be sidelined from cricket for at least six weeks after he underwent a knee surgery in Amsterdam on Friday. He will miss the initial part of India's 2019-2020 domestic season, after getting operated on a knee that had been troubling him in the recent past.

"Mr Suresh Raina underwent a knee surgery where he had been facing discomfort for the last few months. The surgery has been successful and it will require him 4-6 week of rehab for recovery," BCCI posted on social media.

Raina last played for the Men in Blue against England in July 2018. However, he played for his IPL team Chennai Super Kings this year. He scored 383 runs in 17 games at an average of just below 24. He finished with less than 400 runs in an IPL season for the first time in three seasons, and was a big disappointment in the T20 league.

India's domestic season will begin with the Duleep Trophy from August 17. However, Raina was not named in either of the three sides that will be competiting. However, he will be eyeing a return in the middle of the Vijay Hazare Trophy that starts from next month.
