Former New Zealand and Kings XI Punjab coach Mike Hesson who gave his interview for the position of head coach of Team India said that he is unsure of his selection as coach and said that he will keep his fingers crossed until the decision comes out later this evening. Three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) - Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy are expected to announce the new coach of the Indian Team and the other support staffs who will assist him.

"I am unsure. They are making a decision this afternoon. You guys will hear about the decision the same time I will."

Mike Hesson has previously coached New Zealand and Kenya. He also coached some franchise teams like Kings XI Punjab and Otago Volts. Under his guidance, New Zealand reached the finals of the ICC World Cup in 2015.

Earlier, the BCCI had shortlisted six candidates for the role of Head Coach of Team India including Ravi Shastri. Apart from Shastri, Lalchand Rajput, Robin Singh, Mike Hesson, Tom Moody and Phil Simmons were shortlisted. Later, Phil Simmons opted out of the interview process citing personal reasons.

Under Lalchand Rajput, Team India lifted the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 when he was the manager. Robin Singh has the experience of previously being the fielding coach of the Indian Team. The other candidates too have the experience of coaching and mentoring sides across the world.

The interview process will get over today and the Cricket Advisory Committee would be announcing the results by 7 PM today.

Most likely, it has to be Ravi Shastri who has to take up this high-profile job.
