Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar, who was ruled out of the World Cup 2019 midway after fracturing his toe, has regained fitness and returned to cricket in a game in the Tamil Nadu Premier League on Friday. 

The Tamil Nadu player finally made his TNPL debut in the fourth season, whilst playing for Chennai Super Gillies against Tuti Patriots in Tirunelveli. 

Shankar could not play the first three seasons due to his India A committments and his injury issues. He was out of action since the World Cup 2019 after a toe injury ruled him out. He managed only 58 runs and picked up two wickets in the three games he had played in the edition.

In the TNPL game, he made three runs in 7 balls, and picked up two scalps in 3.5 overs. He conceded 15 runs, and picked up a wicket in the very first ball he bowled.
