India captain Virat Kohli's decision to bat first against South Africa in the third and final T20I at Bangalore backfired but the 30-year-old felt that the hosts want to prepare for next year's T20 World Cup by minimizing the impact of the toss. India suffered a thrashing by Quinton de Kock and his men as they went down by 9 wickets.

Virat Kohli said, "Nothing is a given or guarantee before you start playing. I think if we as a team are willing to get out of our comfort zones a lot more, then we will be unfazed with what happens at the toss."

"Unless you do that and start taking those risks, you are always going to be under pressure somewhere or the other. We want to make sure we iron all those things out before we head into the World Cup."

After an aggressive start, India ended with a below par total of 134. Virat, however felt that the team management's priority was to try out different combinations in the shortest format.

"You have to understand as well that it’s a very young side, you have to give them time as a team to come together. We batted till nine tonight and that's one area we're looking to strengthen."

With the T20I series over with a 1-1 verdict, the focus will now shift towards the longest format of the game which begins in Visakhapatnam on October 2nd. This series will also be part of the ICC World Test Championship with 120 points to play for.
