Bollywood celebrities like Ramesh Sippy and Aamir Khan discussed film censorship and certification related issues when they met Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

Actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan, who is turning 50 on Saturday, says he is not aware of his birthday plans as his wife Kiran Rao is making all the arrangements.

"I am not aware of my birthday plans, only Kiran knows as she is planning for it. She has made all the arrangements," Aamir told reporters here on Wednesday at the DVD launch of his film "PK".

"She has called family and few friends. I don't even know who she has called," he added.

With Aamir Khan-starrer "PK" facing protests from Hindu rightwing groups alleging that it defames Hindu religion, a religious leader Friday said one must first examine the context of the film before making accusations

"We must be very sensitive anyway in a right way, first of all, to not give any cause for such a controversy.

"Secondly, we must understand the context... maybe it wasn't an insult at all. In what context those words were used... these must be clarified," Archbishop of Calcutta Thomas D'Souza told IANS here but added he has not himself watched the film yet.

Hindutva groups in Agra continued their protest against the Aamir Khan starrer movie "PK".

Activists of the Bajrang Dal, Hindu Jagran Manch and Vishwa Hindu Parishad held demonstrations at several places, burnt posters of the film and shouted slogans.

Dharmendra Gola, Madan Sharma, Avinash Rana and other activists questioned the logic behind giving the film tax exemption in Uttar Pradesh.

They criticized Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for insulting the sentiments of the Hindus by making the film tax free in the state.

Aamir Khan's movie "PK" will be exempted from tax in Bihar so that the poor can watch the film that exposes the fraud taking place in the name of religion, Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi announced Thursday.

Bihar became the second state after neighbouring Uttar Pradesh to take this step, ignoring continued protests by right-wing Hindu organisations that claim the movie hurt religious sentiments of Hindus.

Manjhi said the government took the decision after former chief minister Nitish Kumar advised it.

Nearly 200 Bajrang Dal activists Wednesday protested outside a cinema hall in Delhi and stopped the screening of Aamir Khan starrer "PK", saying it went against the religious sentiments of Hindus.

Neeraj Doneria, Delhi state convener of the Bajrang Dal, told IANS that the activists gathered outside Nand Nagri's Gagan cinema in east Delhi around 11.30 a.m.

"We protested against the screening the movie and also burned Aamir's effigies and the film's posters," he said.

He demanded the cinema hall should stop screening the movie.

It was beyond the scope of the information and broadcasting ministry to restrict the viewing of Aamir Khan's movie "PK" and those opposed to it were at liberty to move court, union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said Tuesday.

"The information and broadcasting ministry has no legal right whatsoever to restrict the viewing of any film," said Rathore, the minister of state for information and broadcasting.

"Freedom of speech is enshrined in our Constitution," he added.

Aamir Khan-starrer "PK" Tuesday faced protest here as activists of right-wing Hindu groups held a demonstration outside a cinema hall, demanding that its screening be stopped.

The owners of Megha, a cinema theatre in Dilsukhnagar area, had to briefly suspend screening of the movie due to protest by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists.

Police said about 30 protesters gathered outside the theatre, tore and set afire the posters of the movie. They also raised slogans against Khan and the film's director Rajkumar Hirani.

Arya Samaj leader Swami Agnivesh Tuesday advocated tax exemption for Aamir Khan-starrer "PK" in view of the movie's "new message" that would encourage scientific temperament among students across India.

Bajrang Dal workers attacked the premises of Z Square Mall here Tuesday where Hindi film "PK" was being screened, seeking a ban on it for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments.

The activists tried to storm the mall where the film was being exhibited at a multiplex. But when security personnel stopped them, they pulled down canopies and other publicity exhibits at the gate.

They also burnt an effigy of the film's main actor, Aamir Khan, who plays the role of an alien in the movie that is a commentary on godmen.

Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra says he wants to make the blockbuster "3 Idiots" in various languages because it left an impact on many people's lives.

"I'd like to make '3 Idiots' in Chinese, French and English. I would love to make it in every language in the world. It changed many lives including my daughter. She left media studies and learnt Kathak. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan Wednesday participated in a Unicef-initiated nutrition programme organised by a local women's group at Kapilvastu in western Nepal

Aamir, who is Unicef's Ambassador promoting nutrition for children, arrived in Kathmandu Tuesday.

The Indian cine icon spent around an hour at the Pakadi Health Post in the district where health officials and women volunteers made a presentation on local nutrition status. After attending the programme, Aamir left for Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Gautama Buddha.
