On an official blog post on steam it was announced that One of the Legacies of the Sith expansion's elements is being tested on the public test server in preparation for the 10th anniversary of Star Wars: The Old Republic and the release of the Legacy of the Sith expansion.

In addition to a new storyline, Legacy of the Sith will introduce new combat styles that will allow players to customise the abilities of various classes.

Previously, at level 10, you could choose between two advanced classes—for example, an Imperial agent could choose between sniper and operative.

Characters in the new system will have a combat style from level one, chosen from a much larger variety.

That Imperial agent would not be able to select a Force-based combat style, but he or she would be able to select any of the tech-based blaster styles, including vanguard, commando, powertech, mercenary, scoundrel, or gunslinger, as well as sniper and operative.

Force wielders' options will be limited by their faction, but with enough Light or Dark Side points, they can eventually unlock the opposing variety of powers.

The public test server for The Old Republic is currently testing the powertech, mercenary, juggernaut, and marauder combat styles. They've also been reworked.

"We are working to reduce the number of abilities while ensuring that these classes remain distinct and unique," says the blog post, "to make these classes feel less encumbered and customization more concise."

More updates will be made to the public test server in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Fraser Brown desires a full-fledged sequel, stating, "I don't want Knights of the Old Republic 3, I want Star Wars: The Old Republic 2."
