AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is one of the biggest comebacks by the company in the high-end GPU segment. The company launched the GPU in the Indian market and expanded its portfolio back in 2020. The GPU is said to be one of the biggest competitors of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 when it comes to performance and gaming performance. The company claims that the GPU is capable of delivering 1440p in Resident Evil Village without ray tracing which seems to be impressive. The company has shared one unit with us to hook it up with our gaming PC and test the device and give you a comprehensive review of the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT. So here we are explaining our experience with the GPU and is it worth investing your hard-earned money in it.

The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB GPU in India was launched with a price tag of RS 65,000, but currently, the graphic card is out of stock on major reliable e-commerce sites. Thanks to COVID-19 scenarios almost all the PC components have witnessed a huge price hike making it difficult for us to upgrade.

If you’re a gamer who keeps appreciating your rig filled with RGB lights and complicated design then you must like the design of the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT. The GPU is a hefty 10-inch long with Radeon branding on it, which glows when you hook it up on your PC’s motherboard. It comes with three to keep the GPU calm while you are busy playing heavy graphic games. The fans draw heat from the bottom, pass it along with the aluminium heatsink, and expels heat through the backplate.

Looks-wise the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT sports a traditional GPU design but that doesn’t mean that it will make your PC look less attractive. At the back, it has a die-cast aluminium backplate for heat reduction. FYI, there is no fancy RGB lighting on the GPU nor does it have any display panel to showcase temperature and fan speed, for that you can run the AMD Radeon Software.

On the connectivity part, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT includes two DisplayPort 1.4b ports, one HDMI output, and one USB Type-C output. With three display outputs, you can attach at least three screens to the GPU and enjoy wider gaming or working experience. If you’re into video editing or graphics work then it's a blessing for you.

The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is launched to take in GeForce RTX 3080, the company claims that the GPU is capable of running AAA game titles at 4K 60fps at higher quality settings. It can also deliver 144-240fps at 1440p in many esports titles. Ray tracing works like the cherry on the cake and it can achieve up to 1080p and 1440p at 60fps or above. Moreover, the GPU ray tracing feature is not just for upscaling gaming, it also speeds up the content creation work and increasing rendering on content creation applications like AVID, Adobe, Autodesk Maya, and more.

Talking about the specifications, the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is equipped with 72 CUs, clubbed with 4,608 stream processors, and the same number of ray accelerators. It can run at up to 2250MHz and back by 16GB of 256-bit GDDR6 RAM with a peak bandwidth of 512GBps.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Performance

We have hooked the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT with AMD Ryzen 5 2400G which is currently available with us. We have used the GPU for more than a month, playing games like PUBG PC, FIFA 2020, Call of Duty, Need for Speed Payback, Far Cry 5, and a lot more. During the testing phase, we didn’t face any issues with the performance. We have received up to 120fps during the gameplay and hardly witness any frame drop. AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is a top-end GPU and didn’t disappoint us at any point.

Apart from gaming, we have also tested the device by rendering and exporting hefty files on Adobe Premiere Pro. The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is capable of rendering 10 minutes of 4K resolution video in 8 minutes. FYI, the video clips were just stitched and there were no additional temples or graphics added to the timeline. We have also exported a full-fledged 10 minutes long 4K video with ample graphics, colour corrections with multiple layers. The video files took around 12 minutes to render and export at 4K resolution.

We have also run the GPU through Geekbench 5 test in which it has managed to score 134798 OpenCL scores. This score will obviously push up if the GPU is clubbed with a better CPU from Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9 series. We have performed the test with an entry-level CPU, which might have affected the scores, but the performance of the GPU was more than impressive.

The AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT is no doubt a pricey GPU with a point tag of Rs 64,990, there are numerous options as well available in the Indian market out of which you can select. However, if you require a GPU that goes head on head with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 then you can buy the little beast which is capable enough to deliver a power pack performance. The GPU checks almost all the boxes and delivers a seamless gaming experience. We must say that you can spend your hard-earned money on this component and you will never regret your decision.

FYI, the GPU fans are loud and also produce a lot of heat. If you're planning to place your rig on the PC table then it's better to invest some money in good fans for better airflow.
