OnePlus 9 series gets a new Android 12 Developer preview; Read more
We have been hearing about the merger of OxygenOS and ColorOS for some time. The new merged unified OS platform will arrive with the upcoming Android phone releases from Oppo and OnePlus. However, if you are enrolled in the OnePlus Developer Preview program on your existing OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, you can see the new release arriving for your phone. OnePlus is going to release the Android 12 with a new unified platform once it's stable. The new platform has many UI elements and traits belonging to the OxygenOS but it seems more notable to ColorOS than the previous OxygenOS 11 software.
OxygenOS and ColorOS: Merge
The platforms of OnePlus and Oppo are going to merge into a unified platform and all the upcoming smartphones are going to get the new upgraded platform which runs on the all new Android 12. However, the new platform has been given the name OxygenOS internally but we can see the ColorOS logo in the about phone page. So we are not sure whether to call it OxygenOS 12 or ColorOS 12. But certainly, it will be amongst the best and good looking platforms in the smartphone market with several exciting features.
The new unified platform that will be a merger of ColorOS 12 and OxygenOS 12 will have many things similar to both these operating systems however, will be much faster and much smoother than the previous operating systems used by Oppo and OnePlus. It will have a new redesigned look and several new features.
The new platform is still in the editing mode due to some notable glitches such as the camera does not support Xpan or hasselblad elements. The OnePlus users will get the beta updates of the Android 12 soon as it is released.
System updates for OnePlus
The upcoming system updates will include an optimized auto-brightness algorithm, an optimized mistouch prevention algorithm for curved screens, New widgets added that can show information about the apps, an optimized page layout, an optimized frame rate for the gamers and lastly, it comes with support for the camera as well.
