Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is official, Provides more performance in the same size for $15

The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is a new version of the company's tiny wireless Zero W board with significantly improved performance, new features, and a slightly higher $15(₹1,150 approx) price tag. Initially introduced six years back with the Pi Zero, then Pi Zero W, it is the third launch that packs more power in a compact form.

It has 512MB of LPDDR2 SDRAM and uses a mildly downclocked version of the same Broadcom BCM2710A1 SoC die as the $35 Raspberry Pi 3. As a result, it offers a significant performance boost over the original Zero, with multithreaded tasks running up to five times faster.

Raspberry says, Zero 2 W uses thick internal copper layers to conduct heat away from the processor. If you hold a Zero W and a Zero 2 W in your hands, you can really feel the difference in weight.

It's s tiny as before but highly more capable than the original Zero. It has a 2.4GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.2, a MicroSD card slot, Mini HDMI port, a CSI-2 camera connector, HAT-compatible 40 pin I/O header, OpenGL ES 1.1, 2.0 graphics, and H.264 1080p 30 encode and decode capabilities.

"Almost all cases and accessories designed for Zero should work perfectly with the new board, including our own case and selection of cables," the foundation said in a blog post. It also unveiled a new official Raspberry Pi Zero 2 USB power supply ($8), which can also power the Raspberry Pi 3B or 3B+.

The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is now available for $15 / £13.50 in the United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong. If you want to learn more about Raspberry Pi, refer to their official page.
