The Samsung Galaxy M22 smartphone has been the subject of a number of leaks and reports in the past few weeks. Now, the company has silently launched the handset in Germany. The Galaxy M22 has arrived as the successor to the Galaxy M21 2021, which was launched earlier in July. The new Galaxy M series offering has a refreshed design and boasts upgraded specifications. The new Galaxy M22 handset has slim bezels with a waterdrop notch-toting display and a quad primary camera module on the back.

Talking about the features first, the Samsung Galaxy M22 offers the same 6.4-inch display found on the Galaxy M21. However, the refresh rate of the new offering has been bumped to 90Hz from 60Hz. Under the hood, the smartphone has an octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 processor as compared to the Exynos 9611 SoC found on its predecessor. As for the storage capacity and RAM, the Galaxy M22 has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which can be further increased up to a whopping 1TB by inserting a microSD card.

As for the camera specs, the Samsung Galaxy M22 has a quad primary camera module on the back as compared to three shooters found on its predecessor. The new Galaxy M series offering features a 48MP primary camera at the rear, which is aided by an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens that has a 123-degree field-of-view. There’s also a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens as well. As for the selfies, there’s a 13MP snapper on the front.

Software-wise, the Samsung Galaxy M22 boots Android 11 out of the box with the One UI 3 on top. As far as the security features are concerned, the new Galaxy M series smartphone has a fingerprint sensor, which is placed on its side under the power button. To compare, the Galaxy M21 features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. In terms of connectivity, the device has 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone socket, and a USB Type-C port for charging. The smartphone is fuelled by a beefy 5,000mAh battery, which supports 25W fast charging.

Design-wise, the Samsung Galaxy M22 has slim bezels on the two sides, but there’s a tad thick bezel at the bottom. The top has a waterdrop notch to house the single selfie snapper. At the rear, the device has a square camera module that’s placed on its top-left corner. There are also vertical lines in a pattern on the back to provide it with a more attractive appeal.

Samsung hasn’t yet revealed the pricing of the Galaxy M22 at the moment. The brand did reveal that the phone will be available in three colour variants including Black, Blue, and White. As of now, there’s no word when the handset will be available to buy or launch in the global markets. Talking about the Galaxy M21 2021, the phone is available in India for Rs 12,999.
