WhatsApp will soon allow you to send disappearing photos and videos
WhatsApp on August 4th confirmed that the online instant messaging app will soon allow users to send disappearing photos and videos similar to the dispersing message feature. According to the company, the new feature will start rolling out this week to all the users. Long story short, now users will be able to send photos and videos which will allow receivers to view it only one time, this step might increase the security. The new feature is called the “view one” mode. Let’s have a closer look at the new feature.
“New feature alert!
You can now send photos and videos that disappear after they’ve been opened via View Once on WhatsApp, giving you more control over your chats privacy!” reads the official WhatsApp tweet.
WhatsApp shared a tweet from its official account suggesting that a new feature is on the way and it will be known as View Once which allows more control over WhatApp chats. According to the company, the new feature could be helpful for many for sharing documents and media that users don’t want to be shaved by the receiver. But it also confirmed that the view once feature will not restrict someone from taking a screenshot. Moreover, you won’t be able to know if they have taken the screenshot or not.
According to Facebook, the new feature is introduced to provide “even more control over their privacy.” With the new inclusion, the company is also scaling up the end-to-end encryption. Earlier WhatsApp introduced the disappearing messages feature which let the users send messages that disappear after 7 days. It seems that the social media giant is heading towards making the app more secure for the end-users and maintain their security in all possible manners. The company is yet to reveal the exact date of rolling out the feature, but we can safely expect that WhatsApp will soon make that announcement as well.
