Basant Panchami also known as Vasant Panchami is celebrated to mark the arrival of spring. The festival is celebrated by people in different parts of India. The festival also marks the preparation for the festival of Holi. The festival of Holi takes plays after 40 days of Basant Panchami.
 
During Basant Panchami, the Hindi worship goddess Sarawasti. Goddess Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, language, music and all arts. Basant Panchami also marks the importance of agricultural fields and ripening of yellow mustard crop flowers. The colour yellow is considered as Saraswati's favourite colour.

Hindus also believe that the universe was created by Lord Brahma on this day. The festival is mostly celebrated in the Northern part of India.

 
On this day, Indians celebrate the festival and pray to the gods and goddess along with their family members. The day is also considered as a good one to start anything new.
