Mahavir Jayanti is one of the most significant festivals of the Jains. This day is celebrated as it states the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, the twenty-fourth and the last ‘Tirthankara’ of Jainism. According to the Hindu calendar, it usually falls either in March or April as it should be on the 23rd day of the month of Chaitra. This year, the festival will be celebrated on April 17 (today).
