The buzz around cricket is currently at its high. Firstly, Cricket and Bollywood have always had a strong connection. In terms of movies, cricket has been an inspiration for Bollywood. Over the years, we have seen a lot of movies being made on cricket in Bollywood.

Currently, Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film ‘83 is the talk of the town. For the uninitiated, ‘83 is an upcoming sports drama film based on India’s historic win at the 1983 World Cup led by Kapil Dev. The same is directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Madhu Mantena and Vishnu Induri. Ranveer along with his co-stars are currently in London where they will be shooting for the film. The same is slated to hit the theatre screens next year.

1: Lagaan

Lagaan is one of the best films made in the history of Indian cinema. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Lagaan starred Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh, Rachel Shelley among others in pivotal roles. The movie did exceptionally well at the box office and also bagged Filmfare Award for Best Film.

2: Kai Po Che!

The film Kai Po Che! revolves around three friends who start an academy to train budding cricketers. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, Kai Po Che! starred Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh. The same is based on the novel of Chetan Bhagat’s ‘The Three Mistakes of My Life.’

3: Azhar

Based on the life of former Indian skipper, Mohammad Azharuddin, the film starred Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhri and Lara Dutta.

4: MS Dhoni: The Untold Story

MS Dhoni: The Untold Story based on the life of Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the best films. It starred Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, it also starred Disha Patani, Bhumika Chawla and Kiara Advani.

5: Iqbal

Iqbal is one of the must-watch films. The film revolves around a deaf boy who dreams of playing in the Indian cricket team. Shreyas Talpade delivered an excellent performance in the same. It also starred Naseeruddin Shah in a pivotal role.

Jannat was a film based on match-fixing and the same starred Emraan Hashmi and Sonal Chauhan.

7: Ferrari Ki Sawari

Ferrari Ki Sawari is a film based on father and son's relationship. It shows how Sharman Joshi's character steals a Ferrari to fulfill his son’s dream of playing at Lord’s cricket ground. The film which is an absolute treat to watch also starred Boman Irani.

8: Patiala House

Directed by Nikhil Advani, Patiala House starred Akshay Kumar, Dimple Kapadia, Rishi Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

9: Sachin: A Billion Dreams

Directed by James Erskine, Sachin: A Billion Dreams is a docu-drama film based on the God of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, which had released on May 26, 2017.
