Rama Navami or Lord Rama’s birthday is a Hindu festival which is celebrated with a lot of fervour by all at the start of the spring. The day marks the birth of the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu on earth and hence holds a lot of significance for all the believers of Hindu religion. Lord Rama was born to King Dashratha and Queen Kaushalya in Ayodhya. Ram Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of the Chitra Navratri and is an auspicious occasion to pray to Lord Rama. 

On the occasion of Rama Navami, everyone gets up and get dressed in new clean clothes in the morning and prays to God. The day usually begins with Rama Bhajans or hymns to praise the Lord. Also, during the day, the story related to the birth of Lord Rama also known as Rama Katha is heard by all to celebrate the birth of Lord Rama. Some Hindu religion followers bathe and clean the small idols of Lord Rama and then establish them in a temple to pray to them. 

Rama Navami holds importance in most parts of North India including Ayodhya and Sita Samahit Sthal in UP, Sitamarhi in Bihar,Janakpurdham in Nepal, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan (entire state) and some states in the Southern part of India as well like Puri in Odisha, Telangana in Bhadrachalan, Kodandarama Temple, Vontimitta (Andhra Pradesh) and Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. In some places, even Rathyatras are shown which project Lord Rama’s birth story on a massive scale and move throughout the city to educate the people about Lord Rama.
