Smriti Irani gives it back to a hater who bullied her daughter for her looks, says I'm proud to be her mom

Union minister and former television actress, who had deleted her daughter's post from her Instagram account due to a certain bully in her class, has now shared a selfie of her daughter with a strong message.

Actress-turned-politician Smriti Irani is not among the one's to take trolls lying down. In a recent post, Smriti Irani took to Instagram to give it back to a hater. Union minister and former television actress, who had deleted her daughter's post from her Instagram account due to a certain bully in her class, has now shared a selfie of her daughter with a strong message this time around. Smriti revealed that she deleted the earlier post because a boy in her daughter's class instigated other boys to make fun of her.

Smriti wrote, "I deleted my daughter’s selfie yesterday coz an idiot bully in her class, A Jha, mocks her for her looks & tells his pals in class to humiliate her for how she looks in her mother’s insta post. My child pleaded with me ‘ Ma please delete it, they are making fun of me’. I obliged coz I could not stand her tears. Then I realised my act just supported the bully .

Smriti's post further read, "So Mr Jha , my daughter is an accomplished sports person, record holder in Limca Books, 2 Nd Dan black belt in Karate, at the World Championships has been awarded bronze medal twice; is a loving daughter and yes damn beautiful. Bully her all you want , she will fight back. She is Zoish Irani and I’m proud to be her Mom."  Well, that was indeed an eye-opener on bullying and Smriti addressed it bang on. Why dont you empower your girl with confidence to deal with bullies. She is a karate champion and has a powerful mom, yet didn't stand up for herself. Moms should meet the concerned n sort this out in private and not resort to public mudslinging.

i don't understand what the bully is bullying her for. She is a pretty young girl and regardless, what is wrong with people who bully others for their looks or for anything for that matter. I think she did right to publicly shame becayse if you have the power to get it out there and DISCOURAGE bullies, why the hell not?

I support Smriti in this matter. Public shaming must be met with public shaming alone.

She neednt have put it out before the public. Not needed. And her daughter cant defend herself? Whats the need to list down her achievements? Kids are so superficial these days, they need mumma papa for everything.

Smriti irani you sound more like a bully than an honoured miniter handling a delicate family situation. It is good that you stand up but again publiclly humiliating someone is also not cool.

Thank you Sriti Madam,a great lesson for parents with teens.Indian guys with mediocre looks and achievements belittle women who are better than them and it starts from young. Bullies must be shamed age does not matter.

People who judge Smriti probably don't understand how hard it is for a parent to see their kid bullied. Easy to site back and offer advice. Bullies need to given a dose of their own medicine sometimes.

What about girls who donot have such achievements? noone should be bullied. She looks like a mother whose ego has been bruised.

Let her daughter handle it. As a mother she couldhave approached the guy's parents and school authorities.

Yeah powerful politician bullies teen.

Seriously? You wanted to support your daughter, teach her to not bother about such bullies, make her strong enough to care not. What she said on her behalf could easily be said by the daughter on her own. That kid did not bully her on the social media, why is she naming him on her social media account? You talk to the parents first

She is bullying that boy who is the same age as her daughter on the public platform. The sensibility is go talk to the boy and sort it out there. He is also not an adult.

I disagree with the comments about bullying the boy back. This is a mum sticking up for her child and showing the world she won’t be bullied.

So she bullies the classmate publicly instead of taking to the parent. How childish. Not a tiger mom.

She is worse than the bully who is her child's age. Should have talked with the parent and sorted it out in a sensible manner.

Awesome mom! Be the tigress you are... Always.
