Indian film actress and model Divya Dutta was born on 25th September, 1977, in Ludhiana, Punjab. She was raised by her mother Nalini Dutta single-handedly after the death of her father when she was only 7-years-old. Divya started her career as a model and featured in several television commercials in Punjab. She also appeared in a music video named Romeo. Later, she made her acting debut in 1994 with the film Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna. Next, she was seen in the 1995 film Surakshaa in a supporting role. In the same year, she got her first movie Veergati in a leading role opposite actor Salman Khan. Next, she was seen in films like Agni Sakshi, Chhote Sarkar, Ram Aur Shyam, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat and so on. Other than that, Divya also made an entry into the Punjabi film industry and was seen in the film Shaheed-E-Mohabbat. Next, Divya also started working in the Nepali film industry. She was seen in films like Basanti and Maya Namara. At the same time, she was also working in Hindi films such as Shakti: The Power, Praan Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye, Baghban, LOC Kargil, Shaadi Ka Laddoo, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero, Umrao Jaan, Apne, Aaja Nachle, Welcome to Sajjanpur, Oh, My God! To date, she has acted in more than sixty feature films, including, two international productions. On television, she played Purnima Banerjee in the serial Samvidhaan (2014). For her role in the social drama Irada (2017), Dutta was awarded the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. She did a short film Plus Minus in which popular YouTube artist Bhuvan Bam was in the lead. She also wrote a book 'Me and Ma' celebrating her close relationship with her mother. The book was published in 2017 by Penguin Random House.
