Star Plus' popular show Ishqbaaaz featuring Nakuul Mehta and Surbhi Chandna is witnessing some interesting track lately. Away from the saas-bahu sagas, the show has recently been focusing on portraying relevant issues such as public display of affection, social media usage, language divide and most recently blind faith.
Now, if our sources are to be believed, the show will shift focus to the raging #MeToo movement which took the world by storm recently. However, we are not sure how the makers plan to incorporate it within the storyline. For those uninitiated, #MeToo movement came to light
post-Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was ousted by the industry following allegations of sexual harassment against him. Many famous Hollywood actresses too joined the movement and opened up about their experiences with Weinstein. The movement turned global with women all over the world opening up about their experiences on social media.
Following this, addressing the issue of sexual harassment became a core topic of discussion and the fire continues to burn within. Ishqbaaaz is planning to take the movement forward by focusing on it and making sure conversation on the same doesn't die.
Despite being a core issue, Indian TV shows have usually stayed away from portraying or discussing anything controversial. However, it is nice to see a few shows taking an initiative. With this, we hope discussion on the same is normalised and it can motivate more and more women to open up.
Earlier, Ishqbaaaz actor Nakuul Mehta had opened up about the issue at an award function and had urged the fraternity members to rise up and take a stand against this horrific incidences.
Ishqbaaaz airs at 10 PM on Star Plus and is currently positioned on the 10th spot on the TRP chart list. The fact that the show has sprung back into the top 10 recently is a green signal for the makers that the audience is reacting well to the relevant tracks.
