EXCLUSIVE: Post comments on Pulwama Attack, Navjot Singh Sidhu replaced by Archana Puran Singh; latter REACTS
The Pulwama terror attack which claimed lives of more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and left many injured has left the entire nation shocked and in grief. Following the attack, Navjot Singh Sidhu, a politician and celebrity judge on The Kapil Sharma Show, made a statement which left the country angered. He said, "For a 'handful of people', can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual? It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished."
Well, soon the channel (Sony) in a prompt action has decided to sack Navjot from TKSS and is in talks with Archana Puran Singh to replace him. We got in touch with Archana who said that while she did shoot for two episodes for the show, the channel hasn't approached her to replace as yet. She said, "I shot 2 episodes with Kapil as a guest judge on the 9th and 13th of Feb. After that I have had no communication from the team to do anymore episodes." When asked if she would consider the offer, if it comes, Archana added, "Since that situation hasn't arisen yet I haven't considered what my answer will be. Depends on my other shoot obligations."
Regarding Navjot's sacking, a source earlier informed that the channel has informed the production about their decision to let go of Singh following the comments. The channel is now mulling on what to do about the episodes that they have already shot with Navjot. A Twitter trend to boycott TKSS was started last evening post Singh's comment hit the Twitterati right at heart.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already assured of a befitting reply to the perpetrators.
