Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has indeed come a long way and even after 10 long years since its run, the show continues to garner much love and applause. Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, on the other hand, though relatively new, has managed to win the hearts of the viewers just like one would expect it to. Both the shows seem to strike the perfect balance in terms of fan love and TRPs and while they are both having a fun run when asked about the shows to the producer of the show, Rajan Shahi, he had quite an insight to give.

When asked how both Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlta Hai and Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke have been in the top 10, producer Shahi revealed how there is a thought that has gone into creating both the show and that is what he thinks has been working out. He said, "Well, to be honest, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai doing well is something we have to strive for each and every day. When a show completes this number of episodes, it becomes a challenge as to how to sustain the show. There are so many topics to choose from and there are so many relationships, so that becomes a major challenge, to keep the freshness alive. Drama, intrigue, etc is just a part of storytelling but to still keep the essence alive that is the challenge, it is always a day to day battle."

He further added, "Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke, if you see, the entire premise and setup have been simple. The idea was to consciously not to get into high-end drama and keep it very very dramatic in the beginning and in today’s time, it was a risk that we took because you would ideally want to start with big bangs and big drama whereas we decided consciously that we will first build the characters and it is not just about building the characters of the leads Shaheer Sheikh, Rithvik Arora, Rhea Sharma, and Kaveri but the idea in the first few episodes or the first month or two is to build up all the inter-relationships of all the characters these in both the families. Now when we built the inter-relations strongly in Yeh Rishta, that became the solid foundation for the show to run for so long. However, if we had focused only on the leads and not the other characters and the relationships like that of father-son, mother-son, father-daughter, brother’s relationship, etc. So this is somehow similar to Yeh Rishta, what we decided 10 years back and of course, then there is the other relationship, the love story, that comes in the focus. So I think that’s what we are doing for Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke without succumbing to high-end drama. You see every scene, every character comes alive and hopefully, that’s what will become a stronger foundation for the show."
