Former newsreader and well-known South actress Fathima Babu recently appeared on the third season of reality show Bigg Boss Tamil as a contestant. Unfortunately, she became the first contestant to get eliminated from the show, hosted by Kamal Haasan. A renowned newsreader for more than 25 years in the Tamil version of Doordarshan, Fathima has featured in many hit films such as Anbudan, Vaaliba Raja, Namma Gramam, Thiruthani and Azhagiya Pandipuram.

In a recent interview, the actress opened up about Bigg Boss and shared, “People have seen me taking on different roles — but at the end of the day, they are just roles. Very few people know the person that I am — the real me. This show gave me the opportunity to show them. I am happy they were able to see the ‘real’ me to a large extent.”

Talking about her journey in the BB house, she said, “Two weeks is a short time to understand a person. I have not displayed my anger and there are negative variations to my emotions as well. I yell at the top of my voice, which is uncontrollably harsh. I didn't display these traits as I didn't come across situations that might have led me to lose my calm. But I look at the brighter side of this opportunity. All my earlier interviews have been mundane — about newsreading, acting career and so on. Having started my career in 1987, all this was getting repetitive for me. But now, it has suddenly become interesting because lakh of people have seen the real me. I am glad that people now know me a little more and beyond my job.”

When asked which contestants she sees in the finale, Fathima replied, “Losliya will turn out to be a tough competitor. She doesn’t give any reason for anyone to be annoyed with her. She is a happy, and a well-mannered girl. Tharsan, too, falls under the same category. He has gone through a lot in his growing-up years. But he has managed to come out of it all, and groomed himself well. He only has love for everybody and hasn’t misbehaved. But I only wish he speaks up more often.”

Well, we wish the cheerful actress all the best for her future endeavours!
