Kiku Sharda, a celebrated entertainer known for his multiple roles, namely Palak in Comedy Nights with Kapil and as Santosh in The Kapil Sharma Show, was recently charged for the fraudulent act of not clearing his dues with art director Nitin Kulkarni. The humourist runs a charitable trust 'The Mumbai Fest' along with his father and the father-son duo have been completely nullifying the allegations.
Art director Nitin Kulkarni has reportedly filed a complaint against 6 people including Kiku and his father, for cheating him for a sum of Rs 50.70 lakh. According to sources, Nitin was in charge of designing a set for a 3-day event for the fest held at MMRDA Grounds in BKC last year. He has recently affirmed the lack of cooperation on the trust's part for not providing him with a copy of the agreement. The cheque that was given to him by the organisers also bounced and he was not paid the due amount as promised, he further added.
The police report states "The dispute arose between the two parties due to some miscommunication about the due amount." After receiving the complaint, they have registered an FIR and are set on verifying the claims made by both sides. In his response, the lawyer of the trust has said, "We will give all the necessary documents to the police and also submit the proof in court.” Speaking his side of the story, Kiku has rubbished his involvement in the case. His father, who is the secretary of the trust has backed his statement. “I just attended the event like other celebrities did and I am not a member or a trustee of Mumbai Fest though my father is the secretary. My name has been dragged into this for no reason", Kiku said.
