The Punjab and Maharashtra Co-Operative (PMC) Bank collapse has affected several people who had opened accounts with them. According to reports, PMC violated Reserve Bank of India norms to lend a huge amount to one client, that is real estate firm Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited which is facing bankruptcy proceedings. The RBI placed PMC bank under restrictions last month barring their clients from accessing their savings.

Among the many who have been left to panic, is television actress Nupur Alankar. Talking about the same to TOI, the ‘Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo’ actress said, “I am facing a major financial crisis. I had accounts in other banks, too, which I transferred to this bank a few years ago. Little did I know that my family members and my life savings will be frozen like this... How am I expected to survive without money? Should I mortgage my house now? Why is there a cap on my own hard-earned money? I have been diligently paying income tax, so why am I suffering today?”

In her latest statement given to ANI, the actress said, “My mother is on oxygen & father-in-law underwent a surgery recently. I had to plead & borrow from people. Our accounts are frozen & payment cards aren't working. I had to sell my jewellery. If it is not sorted, I'll have to sell household items.”
