The news of Anu Malik returning to the panel of judges on the singing reality show, Indian Idol has sparked a lot of criticism. The music composer was earlier booked for sexual misconduct by many women in the wake of the Me Too movement for which he was sacked from the show immediately. However, recently, the makers of Indian Idol broke out the news of having Anu Malik back on board as the show seemed incomplete without him. While a few fans were pleased to hear the news, others turned red with rage for letting the accused return to the show.

As a reaction, a number of new names such as Neha Bhasin and Shweta Pandit got added to the list of accusers lashing out at Anu Malik booking him for similar allegations. Whereas, unlike the others, singer Hema Sardesai stood in support of Malik and slammed the accusers calling their charges baseless. In an Instagram post, Hema opened up on how Anu Malik helped her kickstart her career when she was struggling. She claimed to be the only singer who made a public statement refusing to make compromises in order to get songs and even after that she gave many blockbuster hits, many of them being directed by Anu Malik himself.

She further questioned the singers who charged Anu Malik for sexual misconduct and asked them why were they quiet all these years while they were basking in the success of their chartbusters with Anu Malik, implying that either they are accusing the singer for publicity now or they were agreeable to his advances earlier. "Also if for publicity sake you are throwing stones at him, it’s not acceptable. I ask those known singers who got most of his big songs why are you’ll quiet today when you shld be standing by him? I mean it takes two hands to clap rite?" she wrote as an indirect reference to Shweta Nanda and Neha Bhasin.
