England on Monday proved why they are the hot favorites to lift the upcoming cricket World Cup. The Eoin Morgan-led side thrashed Afghanistan by 9 wickets with mammoth 32.3 overs to spare in the second warm-up game at Oval. It was a complete dominating show by the hosts as they never found themselves in the trouble from the ball one.

On the other side, Afghanistan despite returning from a thumping win over Pakistan, failed to make an impact in either of the departments. After being asked to bat first, the Afghan side lost few early wickets. Thereafter, they never found success in building a big partnership, hence bundling out on meager 160 runs.
The opener, Noor Ali Zadran, and experienced pro, Mohammad Nabi, were the only batsmen to cross the 20-run mark. The former made 30, while latter struck 44 runs. As for England, Jofra Archer and part-time spinner scalped three wickets each.
In reply, English openers didn't waste time to settle themselves before going after the thin Afghan seam-bowling attack. Jason Roy fired a splendid 89-run knock in 44 balls, while Jonny Bairstow also added quick 39 runs in the chase. The hosts finished the game in just 17.3 overs despite having faced a defeat in the first warm-up match against Australia.
With this massive win, England surely would have found the knick they required ahead of the main event. For Afghanistan, it is really important to forget this game and concentrate on their upcoming group-stage matches.
