Sri Lanka lost their first match in the tournament against the Black Caps by a huge margin where their batsman contributed only 136 runs before losing all their wickets. However, they stepped back in their second game that was interrupted by rain and managed to defeat the Afghans by 34 runs. Their third match against the Men in Green was called off yesterday due to heavy rain and both the teams shared the points.

In both the matches, the middle order failed to contribute. According to Skipper, Dimuth Karunaratne, the team can keep us good momentum provided they have a great start. However, in the last couple of games, they couldn’t capitalise on the start that they make.

“We need those middle order contributions and I think that's the key for us as a batting line-up. Other than that, I think as a group we're doing really good," Karunaratne was quoted as saying by ICC media.

On having the match called off yesterday, Dimuth said that they are disappointed as a team as they are here to play cricket. It’s never good to not play a game. He mentioned that the team will look ahead to the next game and focus on their next match.

He said that the team won their last match against Afghanistan and might lose a few matches as well along the way in World Cup. They give a lot of fight and that’s all that they want.

Sri Lanka will play its next match against Bangladesh on Tuesday, 11th June at Bristol County ground.
